The Joint Strike Fighter program is the U.S. Department of Defense’s focal point
for defining affordable next-generation strike aircraft weapon systems for the
U.S. Air Force, Navy, Marines, and U.S. allies. The focus of the program is
affordability — reducing the development, production, and ownership costs of the
JSF family of aircraft. Three variants emerge from this joint design, all sharing a highly common
structure that includes the same fuselage and internal weapons bay. |
