Here are some small
faq's about flying which I thought would be useful to add here.
How
long before I get my Pilots licence? |
The Australian Aviation Authority require a student pilot
to have a minimum of 40 hours flying time of which 15 hours must be solo
time. |
Can
I become a Pilot if I wear glasses? |
Yes lots of pilots I know wear glasses.
However there are certain types of visual impairment which may precluded a
person from obtaining a flying licence. Contact your local Flying Authorithy for more
advice. |
How
tough is the medical? |
Probably no worse than the medical for
most jobs. You can expect to have an ECG test, a chest x-ray, and a medical
examination by your own Doctor. |
How
long before I can fly an aircraft on my own? |
You will probably get your first solo flight when
you have in or around 10 hours flying experience. |
What
about the technical side of flying e.g. exams, books
etc? |
You can hold ground courses during the
winter months. You don't need to be a brain box to fly, the technical side of
flying can seem daunting at first, but when it is broken down into sections it
is fairly straight forward. |
